Congratulations to our Class of 2023

15% of the class achieved an ATAR score over 90 placing them in the top 10% of Victoria and 39% achieved a score over 80, placing them in the top 20% of the state.

14 students also received the VCE Baccalaureate, an additional form of recognition for students who successfully meet the demands of studying a higher-level mathematics subject and a language in their VCE program.

Gisella Santosa

College DUX 2023 | ATAR 97.65 | VCE Baccalaureate

Congratulations to the 2023 Avila College DUX, Gisella Santosa.

A dedicated and intuitive learner, Gisella has consistently sought excellence in her studies throughout her time at Avila.

Gisella immerses herself fully in her academic endeavours and also contributed to College
co-curricular life as an accomplished debater and public speaker. An excellent communicator Gisella articulates her ideas eloquently and effectively and in 2022 she was the recognised as the Runner Up Year 11 Public Speaker of the Year.

Passionate about Indonesian, Gisella played a key role in organising this year’s Indonesian Day celebrations. A respected role model Gisella embodies the philosophy of being a a lifelong learner in her academic, social, cultural and community spirit.

Gisella is also recognised as a 2023 recipient of the VCE Baccalaureate award and is planning on pursuing Bio Medicine.

Ruby Pagliaro

ATAR 97.2 VCE Baccalaureate

With a passion for STEM subjects Ruby is a highly motivated and conscientious learner, who strives for excellence.

A committed student, Ruby thrives on feedback and is always proactive in her studies. Intellectually curious and socially conscious, Ruby is an individual who is motivated to make a difference and be a change maker.

The recipient of the Avila College STEM Award in 2022, Ruby loves tackling complex challenges and is looking forward to studying Science at a tertiary level.

Ji Yoon Lee

ATAR 97.1

A modest and diligent student, Ji Yoon has consistently demonstrated fine academic rigour and enthusiasm to always achieve her very best.

Ji Yoon is highly organised and dedicated, using feedback efficiently to further her understanding. A talented and interested STEM scholar, Ji Yoon is an insightful thinker, whose attention to detail and understanding of nuance has been a feature of her studies, especially during VCE.

Ji Yoon undertook the study of Korean and Mathematical Methods as part of her VCE academic load.

Ji Yoon hopes to study Commerce/Information Technology.

Maddie Windsor

VCE-VM High Achiever

Maddie is a positive and effervescent student in all classes. She has applied herself consistently and diligently over the last 2 years to be the college’s first VCE-VM High Achiever award winner.

Maddie studied Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance at Box Hill Institute and attained competency in all required areas. Her calm and kind demeanour have enabled her to contribute to a positive learning environment and will be of great use as she continues her health studies by completing a Diploma of Nursing.

In her studies Maddie also completed a Certificate III in Hospitality and VCE studies in Agriculture and Horticulture, Visual Communications and Design and Religious Education.

Maddie’s perseverance, willingness to learn from feedback and curious nature will contribute to her future success.
