A Vocational and Applied Learning Pathway

The VCE Vocational Major (VM) is a new vocational and applied learning program within the VCE.

From 2023, the new VCE Vocational Major will replace Intermediate and Senior VCAL. This means the VCE will recognise different students equally.

  • The VCE-VM has specific subjects designed to prepare students for a vocational pathway and move successfully into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education or directly into the workforce.
  • Students studying the VCE-VM can also include VET or VCE subjects in their program.
  • In 2023, the programs for Year 11 students and Year 12 students are slightly different, (please click on links below) however all students will graduate with a VCE (VM) Certificate on completion of required units.

In 2023, the Year 11 VCE (VM) program consists of a core set of subjects, a VET Certificate II or III and an elective choice of an additional VET Certificate or VCE subject.

The Year 12 VCE (VM) program will incorporate VCAL subjects, VET options and VCE (VM) or VCE electives.
