Year 8 City Experience

Avila College Year 8 students recently enjoyed five days being based in Melbourne to explore and learn about the city. During their time in the CBD students navigated the transport system, visited a range of iconic locations, viewed street art and sculptures and sampled the many delights of the Queen Victoria Market.

They also investigated a ‘Big Question’ by surveying members of the public and interviewing experts and key stakeholders. In addition, students learnt about a social justice issues by visiting the Magistrate’s Court, the Urban Seed Credo Cafe and the offices of the Big Issue.

The girls perservered through rain, hail and shine and the week culminated in the students presenting their learnings from City Week to parents on Friday evening who agreed it was a very worthwhile program.
