Year 9 NaviGate Program – A Journey worth taking!

Year 9 students embraced the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones through the NaviGate program. The activities included a thrilling excursion to URBN Surf and an entrepreneurial Smoothie Bar project.

At URBN Surf, students participated in a comprehensive water safety session, learning vital skills such as CPR, the DRABCD emergency response, and how to stay safe around rips, tides, and waves. These essential skills boosted their confidence and safety awareness in aquatic environments. Students then took to the waves for a beginner surf lesson. For many, this was their first time surfing, and they eagerly tackled the challenge.

Students recalled the day to be the, “Best excursion they have ever been on”.

In addition to the surf adventure, students engaged in the Smoothie Bar project, where they developed entrepreneurial skills by creating and managing their own smoothie business. This project fostered teamwork, creativity, and business acumen, providing a practical application of their learning.
