In this course students will be encouraged to explore the way language in constructed by a range of texts across two genres and three historical circumstances. Rhythm, tone, patterns of language and views and values are among some of the techniques and ideas discussed.

Year 12 Literature is a course based on textual exploration and
analysis focusing primarily on language and how language creates
meaning within a text. Students by the end of this course should
be able to analyse individual passages from a text, compare passages,
develop an appreciation of basic literary theory and show understanding
of a range of views and values espoused by authors in their specific
time and place. The ability to show how these views and values are
represented, challenged and explored by a writer through specific
techniques is the most fundamental skill to be acquired in Year 12
Literature.
