• In this course students will be encouraged to explore the way language in constructed by a range of texts across two genres and three historical circumstances. Rhythm, tone, patterns of language and views and values are among some of the techniques and ideas discussed.

  • Year 12 Literature is a course based on textual exploration and
analysis focusing primarily on language and how language creates
meaning within a text. Students by the end of this course should
be able to analyse individual passages from a text, compare passages,
develop an appreciation of basic literary theory and show understanding
of a range of views and values espoused by authors in their specific
time and place. The ability to show how these views and values are
represented, challenged and explored by a writer through specific
techniques is the most fundamental skill to be acquired in Year 12
    Literature.
