PREMIER'S AWARDS
Premier’s Awards were introduced in 1994 and the number that Avila students have received over the years is a measure of the academic rigour of the College and the opportunities available to students.
The following is a list of students who have gained Premier’s awards for academic excellence. In 1992, prior to the Premier’s Awards, students were recognised for being the top in the state for particular subjects.
The years below reflect the year of study for which the student received the award:
1992 Sally-Anne McDonald (Agriculture/Horticulture) - First place in the state in the subject
1992 Paulina Slodowy (Business Management) - First place in the state in the subject.
Second place in Religion and Society.
1993 Tracey Van Grunsven (Agriculture/Horticulture) - Avila’s first Premier’s Award recipient.
1994 Karen Axton (Agriculture/Horticulture)
1994 Naomi Murphy (Human Development & Society)
At a national level, Naomi won a prestigious Australian Students Prize for her academic
achievements in 1994.
