DEBATING AND PUBLIC SPEAKING



Confidence, improved oral communication and analytical skills, quick thinking and a greater awareness of current issues are among some of the benefits students gain from debating and public speaking activities at Avila.

In addition to formal opportunities offered through the English curriculum, Avila offers public speaking and debating as an extra curricular activity.

Students from all year levels are encouraged to be involved in the increasingly popular program.

Avila is a member of the Debaters' Association of Victoria and regularly participates in school competitions. Students also participate in all the major public speaking competitions.

Our public speakers and debaters assist in a range of school activities such as our Creative Arts Festival and religious celebrations. Their professionalism is a great enhancement to such occasions.
