AVILA COLLEGE CREST

Avila College’s crest is very much a part of the history of the college and continues to be relevant and a source of inspiration.

The crest features the Latin words, ecclesiae filia which means daughter of the Church; a cross, a symbol of love; and a quill, a symbol of learning.

The crest was designed by Sister Bernadine of the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy. Father Vincent Creed, who was Parish Priest of St Mary Magdalen’s of Jordanville, on of Avila’s founding parishes, was instrumental in having Sister Bernadine design crest. He described the crest as ‘simple yet so meaningful’.
